All dams and reservoirs of Wapda, including Tarbela and Mangla, are safe and were not damaged by October 8 devastating earthquake. Chairman Wapda Tariq Hameed said while talking to APP here at the Prime Minister House on Monday.

The chairman said comprehensive checking has been done of all reservoirs of the Authority to look into possibility of any damage due to October 8 earthquakes but all dams were found safe.

He said Tarbela Dam was designed to bear the shock of earthquake up to 0.3 g, while the October 8 earthquake was at the level of 0.16 g, therefore, there was no damage to this and other dams of Wapda.
